Education.
Having a degree from the UK will give you an internationally recognised qualification which sets you apart from the rest, which makes British higher education an excellent investment for your future. Many employers and graduate admissions teams look for independence, good communication skills, and an ability to adapt quickly to new challenges. The major benefit of studying at a university in the UK is that it will prepare you to tackle global interdisciplinary challenges, while also instilling you with the drive to keep improving your skills and knowledge.

Types of courses
There are many different courses offered by UK institutions (Bachelor’s, Foundation, Master’s, and Doctorates).
Length of study
Undergraduate courses:
In England, undergraduate students usually undertake a 3-year course leading to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) qualification. Scottish undergraduate courses require 4 years to complete.
Sandwich courses:
Many choose to incorporate an additional year in industry or research abroad to make a 4-year sandwich course. This usually takes place in the penultimate year of a degree course, and often involves full-time paid employment.
Postgraduate courses:
Most Master’s courses only take 12 months to complete, as opposed to 2 years in the rest of the word, saving you time and money.
Foundation courses:
A foundation programme is a structured 1-year course that aims to develop the skills and knowledge required for degree study.
How are British degrees taught?
Lectures
Formal presentations to large groups of students, who take notes on what is said.
|
Seminars
Smaller groups of eight to twenty students who discuss assigned topics with a tutor.
|
Tutorials
Less structured meetings in which one to three students discuss their work with a tutor. The close contact between student and tutor in seminars and tutorials is a particular strength of UK degree courses.
|
Continuous assessment
Depending on your degree course you will be expected to produce coursework and project work, while also being evaluated on your participation in classes and formal examinations. In the final year, most universities require their students to write a final dissertation.

Language requirements
IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge ESOL exams are accepted by the UK universities and colleges as proof of English language skills. We suggest taking the IELTS exam, as this language certification is preferred by UK institutions.
